Day 1 - Cape Town & Cape Winelands - 2 May or 12 May 2010
Flight to arrive at Cape Town International Airport. You will be met by your tour guide at
Cape Town International Airport. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight & breakfast:

Day 2 - Cape Town & Cape Winelands - 3 May or 13 May 2010
08h00 Meet with your guide at the hotel reception. Depart from hotel to V&A Waterfront.
09h00 Departure from the Clock Tower Precinct, V&A Waterfront with the ferry to
Robben Island, where former President Nelson Mandela was imprisoned during the apartheid era.
Arrive back at the Waterfront and enjoy lunch at the Waterfront with its many restaurants,
shops and boutiques. Spend the rest of the afternoon in the Waterfront. Take the cable car
to the summit of Table Mountain (weather permitting) to admire the beauty of the Mother City.
The views from Table Mountain are worth seeing! End your day with a drive up Signal Hill to

Day 3 - Cape Town & Cape Winelands - 4 May or 14 May 2010
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel & check out. 08:30 Meet with your guide at hotel reception and
depart on a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula. Visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where
some of the best-known flower species can be seen. Continue to Muizenberg and Fish Hoek, along
the coast to the naval town of Simon’s Town. A visit to Boulders Beach with its penguin colony
is a must! Drive through the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve to visit Cape Point or, walk with
the last remaining Chacma Baboons in the Cape Peninsula at an additional cost of R250.00 per adult. The two to three hour walking tour will take you through the mountain fynbos until baboons are encountered in their home territory. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to sit and watch these fascinating animals as they eat, play and socialise around you.
Enjoy a funicular ride to one of the most breathtaking view sites and enjoy lunch at The Middens
Restaurant. This little gem is a perfect spot to enjoy some tasty seafood, a potjie or some
crayfish on the braai – by reservation only for groups of 10 or more. A team of creative ladies
from Ocean View near Kommetjie have setup the Middens restaurant just near the beach close to the
Kommetjie Lighthouse.
Follow the M65-road to Scarborough and Kommetjie. Continue along the M65 road and branch off to
the M6-road over Chapman’s Peak towards the quaint village of Hout Bay. Here you can visit the
World of Birds, take a cruise to Seal Island or experience South Africa’s first harbour-front
emporium, Mariners’ Wharf. On your way back to your hotel, pass the famous Atlantic beaches of

Day 4 - Cape Town & Cape Winelands - 5 May or 15 May 2010
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Explore the heart of the Mother City today with a Footsteps
to Freedom, walking tour inviting all to reach into the soul of Cape Town. Trained tour
guides will bring to life the challenges facing the early Dutch settlers. The three hour
walking tour takes in historical sights like the Castle of Good Hope, Grand Parade, and
slavery sites like the Bo Kaap, Slave Lodge and Slave Tree. At the Parliament Buildings
and District Six Museum you will get to understand the effects of racism and discrimination
on the lives of ordinary South Africans. Pay a visit to the Gold Museum in Strand Street,
Cape Town. The unique museum entices visitors to experience the ancient, sometimes mystical
relationships that exist between gold and the African continent through state-of-the-art
visuals and artists display. It is home to a collection of 350 West African Gold artifacts
as well as objects from the Ancient Gold civilizations of Southern Africa. The purpose of
the collection is to present the art of African goldsmitting while inspiring contemporary
design.
Afternoon visit to the townships of Cape Town for lunch, visit a shebeen, spaza shop and
other community projects. Transfer back to Cape Town Hotel. Overnight & breakfast: Cape Town
Day 5 - Cape Town & Cape Winelands - 6 May or 16 May 2010
Full day Winelands tour: Depart for Stellenbosch, the second oldest European settlement in the
country and University town. Visit the Village Museum complex and “Oom Samie se Winkel” a
traditional general dealer. The famous wine route has private cellars and co-operatives.
Enjoy lunch and wine tasting / cellar tours at some of the estates. Drive over the Helshoogte
Pass to Franschhoek. The town’s name originates from the French Huguenots that settled in this
part of the Cape. Visit the Huguenot Museum and Monument and some of the wine estates of the
Vignerons de Franschhoek. Continue to Paarl via the R45-road, visit the Afrikaans Language
monument for the best views over Paarl Valley, and a breathtaking sunset. Overnight (B&B):

After breakfast, guests will depart from the Cape Winelands to Cape Town International Airport.

Day 2 - Overberg, Cape Winelands & West Coast - 3 May or 13 May 2010
After breakfast, depart from your hotel to Hermanus via the scenic R44-coastal road. Visit the Old Harbour,
where you will meet the only Whale Crier of the world and enjoy lunch at one of the superb restaurants.
Travel via R326 to Napier; make sure to pop-in at the cheese farm. Stop for a short break in Napier for
quick tour around the southernmost brewery in Africa Napier Brewery. On to Caledon to enjoy its Wild
Flower Garden and Nature Reserve or visit the Caledon Casino Hotel and Spa for lunch. Depart for
Bredasdorp pass through Napier. Bredasdorp is the home of the Shipwreck museum, the only one of its
kind in South Africa. Leave for L’Agulhas. Visit the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse and take photos at the
southernmost tip of Africa where the Indian and Atlantic Ocean meet. Depart for Arniston – enjoy the
sunset and see the beautiful Kassiesbaai Fishing Village. Overnight: Bredasdorp or Arniston

Early morning departure via the R319-road to Swellendam. Visit the Drostdy Museum which houses an outstanding
collection of 18th & 19th century Cape furniture. On to the R60 road towards Montagu, heart of Route 62 for
lunch. Visit the hot mineral springs, tractor/trailer rides to the summit of the Langeberg Mountains or taste
some muscadel wines. Afternoon departure via Robertson to Worcester. Overnight: Worcester

Day 4 - Overberg, Cape Winelands & West Coast - 5 May or 15 May 2010
09h00 Visit the Worcester Living Open-Air Museum (Kleinplasie), where you can experience life as the
early pioneers lived. See how they baked bread in outdoor ovens, distilled witblits and made candles
from animal fat. 10h00 Depart to the picturesque village of Tulbagh where guests will enjoy a guided
tour along Church Street, home to 32 national monuments. 11h00 Tour of Church Street where after guests
can enjoy a cellar tour and sabrage at Twee Jonge Gezellen. Lunch in Tulbagh. Continue along the R44-road
and the Piekenierskloof Pass to Clanwilliam. Visit the Rooibos Factory in Clanwilliam and/or the
Strassberger's Veldskoen factory in town. Overnight: Clanwilliam
Day 5 - Overberg, Cape Winelands & West Coast - 6 May or 16 May 2010
Depart to Lamberts Bay – visit Bird Island, a breeding ground for African penguins, Cape cormorants and other
seabirds. Enjoy lunch in the harbour. Depart to Langebaan, a popular beach resort, after lunch. Late afternoon
arrival at Langebaan. Enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants (own account). Overnight: Langebaan
Day 6 - Overberg, Cape Winelands & West Coast - 7 May or 17 May 2010
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in Langebaan. Should time allow, visit the West Coast National Park or the Fossil Park on your way back to Cape Town. Transfer to Cape Town Airport for return flights.

Day 1 - Garden Route / Klein Karoo & Central Karoo - 1 May or 12 May 2010
Morning arrival at George Airport. You will be met by your tour guide at George Airport. Visit Red
Berry Farm & Silver Lily Cheese for a “taste” of George’s agri-tourism offering – the Outeniqua Country
Hop Route.
Depart to the historic town of Prince Albert with its beautiful preserved traditional Cape Dutch, Karoo
and Victorian buildings, 13 of which are national monuments. Experience a scenic drive through
Meiringspoort and explore the wonders of the Swartberg Mountains on the way. Lunch in Prince Albert
at one of the open-air restaurants (Koggelmander or Café Albert). Visit the Fransie Pienaar museum;
experience a Ghost walk with Aisha Tudhope. Supper: traditional Karoo food at Karoo Kombuis.
Overnight: Prince Albert (name of accommodation establishment to be advised)
Day 2 - Garden Route / Klein Karoo & Central Karoo - 2 May or 13 May 2010
After breakfast, enjoy one of the following activities in the Prince Albert-area:

visit the Weltevrede Valley

visit the Swartriver Olive Farm or the Fig Farm depending in or off season

enjoy a Donkey Cart drive through town.
At 16h00 taste wine at the Wine Farm (65 Church Street), followed by a cheese tasting at Gay’s dairy.
Enjoy a sundowner at the Koppie to watch a breathtaking sunset of red and yellow skies.
Overnight: Prince Albert
Day 3 - Garden Route / Klein Karoo & Central Karoo - 3 May or 14 May 2010
08h30: Continue over the 36m high Swartberg Pass, a gravel road, to the Cango Caves and the Cango Wildlife Ranch,
experience cuddling tame cheetahs. Depart for Oudtshoorn, the ostrich feather capital of the world. Tour and
lunch at an ostrich show farm. Overnight: Oudtshoorn

Day 4 - Garden Route / Klein Karoo & Central Karoo - 4 May or 15 May 2010
Morning departure via Robinson Pass for a game drive & lunch at Botlierskop. After lunch continue to Mossel Bay,
visiting the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex to see a replica of the Dias Caravel, the Post Office Tree and the
Chapel Cross. Visit the Point area including the Cape St Blaize Cave and go on a tour of the Cape St Blaize
Lighthouse. Overnight: Mossel Bay
Day 5 - Garden Route / Klein Karoo & Central Karoo - 5 May or 16 May 2010
Depart for the City of George, geographical hub of the Garden Route. George offers visitors an opportunity to
discover scenic walks, hiking trails, art galleries, historic buildings and a round of golf on some of South
Africa’s top golf courses. Pop in at the George Museum, famous for its timber industry exhibits and unusual
fairy paintings. Experience the Wilderness National Park where you can experience the tranquil surrounds
from a canoe on the Touw River and then on to Timberlake Farm stall with it’s variety of shops and stalls,
focussing on local organic produce and locally made toys and gifts (this is a good place to have a light lunch).
Depart to Knysna and admire scenic views of forests, lakes and the ocean, along the way.
Visit the Knysna Quays Waterfront and browse through the various shops. Late afternoon/evening lagoon cruise
on the Knysna Estuary. Enjoy the sunset cruise, with champagne and oysters. The Waterfront offers visitors a
unique shopping experience, while the Craft Market offers beautifully handcrafted items. Overnight: Knysna

Day 6 - Garden Route / Klein Karoo & Central Karoo - 6 May or 17 May 2010
After breakfast, depart to Plettenberg Bay - visit the Knysna Elephant Sanctuary. Explore the dramatic Robberg
Peninsula for a walk with views of exceptional beauty and the famous Look-Out Beach, one of only a few Blue
Flag Beaches in South Africa. Go on a whale watching excursion, visit Monkeyland, a primate sanctuary, to see
many species of primates that are free to move about the forest as they do in the wild, or visit the adjacent
Bird park. Overnight: Plettenberg Bay
Day 7 - Garden Route / Klein Karoo & Central Karoo - 7 May or 18 May 2010
Enjoy breakfast in Plettenberg Bay. Transfer to George Airport for your late-morning/early afternoon return flight.
