The Northern Cape Tourism Authority has embraced a dynamic e-business marketing strategy to improve and grow its online presence across various platforms. The campaign is being implemented across different channels to manage information about South Africa’s largest province, to promote the Northern Cape and its tourism offerings and to engage with its clients and target audiences.
According to Dianna Martin, general manager: marketing and promotions for the NCTA, technology is evolving on virtually a daily basis and it is essential to keep updated on the latest solutions. “Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr have become integral to our e-marketing efforts. It has also grown into an increasingly important communication tool to inform and update our target markets. Our online community continues to expand extensively across all platforms as consumers are enticed by the current and interactive messaging and information,” explains Martin.
The Northern Cape Tourism Authority will also launch their dedicated mobi guide for Android and I-phones at the 2013 INDABA. The guide will increase awareness of the unique and distinctive Northern Cape brand and the incredible tourism offerings within the province. “Using this cutting-edge technology will further assist in positioning the Northern Cape as authentic and relevant to our customer’s world view. Our brand will connect with potential customers to form positive emotional bonds, whilst strengthening our customer relationships. We hope that this will also improve desired outcomes such as increased visitor figures and tourism revenue.” Simultaneously, the NCTA will also be introducing their new interactive website, strengthening its positioning as one of Southern Africa’s most desirable holiday and business destinations. The new 3.0 website platform, www.experiencenortherncape.com will allow potential visitors to Northern Cape the opportunity to preplan their time within the province with extensive information on what to do, where to go and where to stay. Website browsers will be able to access special web promotional rates on accommodation and activities and receive current information on events, activities and the latest NCTA promotions and marketing activities.
The tourism authority also launched an e-learning course this week. The recently completed 15 page e-learning module about the Northern Cape was uploaded onto the Dutch e-learning website of Travelution, etraveltraining.nl. Travelution is currently the market leaders in the Benelux region as well as other key European and UK markets with their e-learning modules.
The Northern Cape e-learning course is now available to any trade partner within the Netherlands interested in providing their staff with information on the Northern Cape as a unique and diverse tourism destination. Further e-learning courses are currently being planned for Germany and the United Kingdom.
