Conveniently located between the lowveld towns of Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa, adjacent to the Greater Kruger's Balule Nature Reserve and neighbouring Selati Private Game Reserve, Abelana Game Reserve covers 15,000ha and offers breathtaking landscapes dotted by towering granite outcrops and includes a 10km stretch of the semi-perennial Selati river.
The word "abelana" means "to share amongst each other" in the local Northern Sotho language. This spirit of sharing underpins the relationship between the Mashishimale and, MTH Holdings, which leases the land and has developed two beautiful lodges on the reserve - Abelana Safari Camp and Abelana River Lodge.
